英驻港领事：英国拒入境或拒批签证会解释原因 让对方有上诉理由

香港外国记者会 (FCC) 副主席、英国《金融时报》亚洲新闻编辑马凯 (Victor Mallet)，被特区政府拒绝工作签证续期申请，引起争议。英国驻港总领事馆在其facebook再次发文批评有关做法。英国驻港澳总领事贺恩德 (Andrew Richard Heyn) 更「不点名」批评，近日有人把港府的做法和英国拒绝入境或拒批签证的做法相比较，是「错误的比较」。
贺恩德在文中指，有人试图把港府拒绝马凯工作签证续期申请的手法，和英国拒绝入境或拒批签证的做法作出比较，直指是「错误的比较」。因为英国政府若不批准某人进入英国或其签证申请，都会解释原因，以让对方可有理由作出上诉。
特首林郑月娥早前在电台节目中，被致电的市民疑问为何不公开拒绝马凯工作签证续期申请的理由，林郑回应指，入境处长作出决定后不会公开原因，否则会影响政策一致性。

In recent days attempts have been made to draw comparisons between the decision not to give any reason for the refusal of the work visa of FT journalist, Victor Mallet, and the UK Government's decisions to refuse named individuals' entry to the UK. Such comparisons are wrong. If an individual is denied entry to the UK or a visa application is refused, the individual is notified of the reasons behind the decision so they can consider whether they have grounds for appeal.
