【568期 英語時間】Disposable cutlery to be phased out

During a Legislative Council（立法會） session, Under Secretary for the Environment Tse Chin-wan（謝展寰）said that the government will be urging everyone to reduce plastic waste, and also phasing out disposable plastic eating utensils.
The Environmental Protection Department （環保署）will start a two-year study within financial year 2018, on how other places control the use of such plastic items. If any of the plans is usable, the government will see how they can be adopted in Hong Kong, in terms of which utensils, how to control them, and what can be used to replace such utensils.
The government will find out what is the trend on plastic use throughout the world, and also consult with related industries and the public on how such plans will affect them, in addition to how to implement such plans in Hong Kong.
At the same time, the government also plans to start a promotional campaign encouraging the public to use less disposable plastic cutlery. It hopes to gain experience from such campaigns to help decide on which control methods to use in the future.
